1. Dental Hygiene Department Enhancement
Dental Hygiene Department Enhancement is a two to three day commitment.
Day one consists of an initial assessment in which the consultant assesses hygiene department statistics for the current quarter and previous year. Dental hygiene department strengths and weaknesses become apparent after this initial analysis. In addition, the consultant will observe the entire practice operation while focusing on the delivery of care by hygienists and dentists that includes:
- New patient and recare examinations
- Clinical hygiene protocols including non-surgical periodontal therapy
Day two consists of a full-day consultation and dental team workshop, which typically includes the following components:
- Dental hygiene department mission
- Etiology of gingival and periodontal diseases
- Evidence-based periodontal therapy
- Changes in periodontal therapy since the 1980s
- Classification of gingival and periodontal diseases
- Comprehensive periodontal exam
- Risk assessment
- Periodontal scripting
- Recare exam: considerations and scripting
- Non-surgical periodontal therapy protocal
- Diagnosis and treatment planning
- Explosion codes
- Business side of dental hygiene including hygiene compensation, bonuses, recare and overhead
Day three (if needed) involves advanced dental hygiene instrumentation for dental hygienists including ultrasonics and local delivery antimicrobials.
Each client will receive a detailed, personalized report on the second day of their initial consultation in which observations and recommendations are outlined in detail.
